Man Steals Electric Cart from Walmart to Go Bar-Hopping

A conscientious Louisiana man who wanted to go bar-hopping, but didn't want to get behind the wheel of a car after he'd been drinking, found a way around the problem -- by hitting the bars in an electric shopping cart he stole from a Walmart. While Houma resident Brice Kendall Williams managed to avoid a DUI charge, he's landed in jail nevertheless for stealing the cart. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office learned of the incident late Sunday night when someone called about a bar patron arriving in a shopping cart, according to an incident report.

When a sheriff's deputy arrived, he found the cart in a parking spot, like all the other vehicles in the lot. After the deputy tracked down the 32-year-old inside the bar, Williams gladly explained his reasons for stealing the cart, the incident report indicates. It's unclear whether Williams thought he'd been given a pass for the crime. Either way, he wasn't -- and now he's being held on a $2,500 bond while he awaits his initial court appearance on the felony charge. Not to defend Williams, but who would call the police because someone arrived at a bar in a shopping cart? Would you? Have you ever taken one of those motorized carts for a spin?
