One New Hampshire father has quite the tale to tell his son as he grows up, how his father strangled a rabid coyote to death in order to protect him. 37-year-old Ian Reilly of Kensington was walking with his family of 4 in the woods along Phillips Exeter Academy’s Red Trail around 11am when a coyote ran out of the woods and attacked his 2-year-old son. His son was not bit thanks to the actions of his father but Ian did suffer bites to his arm and chest . This attack was one of 3 coyote-related incidents reported on Monday including a woman and her dog being bitten in Kensington.
“I was able to get its head into the snow and my hand around its snout so it could no longer bite me,” O’Reilly told WCVB Channel 5 in Boston. “From there I was able to suffocate it by using my body weight, and basically scissor-locking it, suffocating it until it expired. It took about 10 minutes unfortunately, which is a lot longer than I anticipated.”
