What day is it? Is it Friday? Who knows at this point. I'm beginning to think someone said Beetlejuice three times and this is why we are in this situation. At this point anything is possible.
Before we jump into the latest issue of what's going on lets fix a common problem for us nerds, geeks, and dorks who wear glasses. The CDC wants us to wear face masks BUT when I put one on my glasses always fog up. It becomes annoying and its not like I can stop my breathing. So if you are like me and hate this new problem I found this video to maybe help.
Think it'll work? Hey it's worth a shot! With that out of the way let's check out what happened this week...time to geek out!
Returning To Gotham
Much of season three of Titans is still a well kept secret but one thing is for sure, Barbara Gordan aka Batgirl will be making a live-action appearance in the DCUniverse streaming series when it returns! This is the first time we will see a live-action character portrayal of Batgirl/Barbara since Alicia Silverstone took on the role for Batman and Robin. I know, we could of seen her on the big screen with Birds of Prey but they left her out. Was this the reason? DC and Warner Brothers are known to do that.
Now that Donna Troy is no longer in the picture (sorry, spoilers) it seems Barbara can take on the role Donna left behind. Of course, seeing Batgirl and Starfire fight over Dick might be fun to see.
No word on when Titans season three will premier on DCUniverse.
The Adventure Continues
If you grew up in the 90's and are a fan of Batman then get ready for this!
DC comics is releasing a mini series based on Batman: The Animated Series! There is a catch. It's only available for download. So either fire up your Comixology account (it's through Amazon) or download the DC Comics app to take a look at the first issue!
Oh, and yes this will be a spoiler. It appears we will FINALLY get a look at Jason Todd in this universe! In the comics the role of Robin went: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake. Since the show was geared towards kids it is safe to assume DC and Warner Brothers didn't want the whole Joker beating him with a crowbar to be in cannon so they omitted his character and that story arc completely. Of course, years later the Joker brainwashed Tim to be a Joker Jr. in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Brainwashing is okay...death by crow bar I guess is a no-no.
And as an added bobus Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, will be narrating an audio version of this in the future. It's okay, you scream for joy.
Hear Rob Roar
The Tiger King lives on. Rumors are starting to circulate that a Joe Exotic biopic is in the works and that Rob Lowe is considered to be the front man to take on the role of the self-titled "Tiger King" of all the big cats out there. This role will either get him an Oscar or absolutely destroy his career. So, the question is, if it does flop....blame Carol Baskin? Actually...who would you cast to portray her?
Gosh Darn It's Goofy!
Ready for more nostalgia. Season 3 of Ducktales premiered last weekend on Disney XD and along that introduced Goofy to the crew. The episode was very clever and killed two birds with one stone. Wow, that was a bad analogy wasn't it?
In this latest episode, the writers were able to introduce Goofy into cannon AND throw in elements from the cult-classic Ducktales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Fun fact, that movie was set to be the series finale of the TV series. I could go into detail and explain it here but just go watch the episode, it's awesome.
Not only does this make Goofy apart of the Duck-verse (officially) but it also brings in his son Max and the rest of Spoonerville into the series. I'm sure we will see the Ducks make a day trip to the next town over in a future episode.
What also makes this episode unique is how they introduced humans into cannon. Yes I know, that sounds odd. Hear me out. When it was announced that season three of Ducktales was going to relaunch characters from the old Disney Afternoon shows one of those shows is Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers and that series takes place in the human world rather than an anthropomorphic city like the Ducks and Goofy are living in. So does this mean humans are cannon? Time will tell....
** Updated 4/10 at 6:30pm **
Okay, take that last part and throw it out the window....watch this NEW clip that was released Friday afternoon. It shows how they are going to introduce Chip N Dale characters to the Duck-Verse!
