WATCH: 1976 'NETWORK' - "I'm Mad As Hell and I'm Not Gonna Take It Anymore"

Can't say I had heard of this movie prior to this week but man is this still relevant today. A film that won four Academy Awards in 1976, the satirical drama highlights the ratings-hungry media using the unhappiness of their host to spark social unrest and further viewership. You see crowds going to their windows in protest of their unhappiness. Not hatred directed at any one person or group. Just voicing that anger together.

The correlation between today and 1976 when it comes to that same the anger and frustration is powerful. The quote, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore,"cuts deep without needing to be specific. People need to vent that anger and resentment. Change needs to be made.

In 2000, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
