Ditch The Sweatshirt! Summer Is Here. Oh & The Geek Freak of the Week

This weekend, we honor our fathers with home made ties and cards that will most likely end up in a box somewhere. Also arriving this weekend is the Summer Solstice aka the first day of summer! Hope you worked out all winter so you can ditch the hoodies. Now, there's a lot to cover so let's go and geek out!

Watching The Watchmen

FOR FREE! In honor of the Juneteenth holiday, HBO has set up their mini series The Watchmen to be viewed this weekend at no cost. For those wondering, what is Juneteenth?

It is also known as Freedom Day. On June 19th,1865, Union General Gordan Granger read the federal order in Galveston, Texas that all African-American slaves in the state were set free. Texas at this time had been part and fought on the side of the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War and now that the war was over with a Union victory, Texas had to be readmitted into the Union with this new law taking effect immediately. But it didn't stop there....

In the 1970's the state of Texas officially declared June 19th a state holiday. Later, in the 1990's more states adopted the holiday into their roster however recently the state of New York and the Commonwealth of Virginia declared June 19th as a paid day off holiday.

The Watchmen on HBO is a continuation of the graphic novel by Alan Moore that was released by DC comics in 1986. The mini-series will be free to watch at HBO.com starting Friday June 19 - Sunday June 21. It's a damn good series.

What's This?

So, this was unexpected. Let's take a look at a quick 30 second teaser for the Snyder Cut of Justice League (yes, they made one).

So why release a teaser? It's actually part of something bigger. Coming this August.....

Enter The DC Fan Dome!

DC Entertainment & Warner Brothers have announced a 24 hour virtual event for fans that will kick off August 22 at 10am PST (1pm Eastern) and will give some insight to upcoming movies and projects. Here are some that they listed over the last few days.

  • The Batman
  • Black Adam
  • The Flash Movie
  • Shazam 2
  • The Snyder Cut
  • Wonder Woman 1984
  • Aquaman

The news from this event will probably reveal a full trailer for the Snyder Cut of Justice League featuring Darkseid showing up and possibly speaking. Along with a new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, which is due out in theaters this October.

Another theory circulating around this event are the possible titles for the Aquaman and Shazam! sequels along with an update for The Flash solo movie. It's hard to say if they will have anything ready to reveal for The Batman starring Robert Pattison and directed by Matt Reeves. Maybe a logo? A teaser would be nice but at the same time do they have anything good ready?

Speaking of bats, could this event have the big reveal of the new actor to take on the mantle of Batwoman on the CW? It's a 24 hour event they need to fill it up with a lot of material!

Thank goodness this happens on the weekend.

Doom Is On the Move

The members of Doom Patrol are back for their sophomore season this Thursday, June 25th to HBO Max. Here's is the extended trailer.

Wait, HBO Max? Wasn't the show on DCuniverse and a spin-off of Titans? You are absolutely correct. Things have changed a little and you can thank Crisis on Infinite Earths. After the crossover and redesign of the multiverse for all DC TV shows the members of the Titans and Doom Patrol are now on separate Earths. Simple, right? That's most likely the reason they switched things over to HBO Max. Also, now that Titans and Doom Patrol shows are on separate streaming services it is less likely that they will crossover again. Here's the clip from the CW crossover that explains it all.

Movies on the Move

I was going to break it all down but thanks to someone over at IGN I don't have to do it. Here are the latest movies that have changed release dates, yet again.

Two Pax With Just One Click

With COVID-19 canceling events, cons, and expos across the world, PAX has decided to combine two of their events into one nine day experience online. The new PAX Online event will be replacing PAX West (scheduled to be in Seattle) and PAX Australia and will take place September 12-20th. It might be a good idea to stock up on the energy drinks.
