3-2-1! The Geek Freak of the Week Is Here!

New Grindelwald, who dis?

A few weeks ago, Johnny Depp was asked to step down from the Fantastic Beasts series. But, you can't have this series without Grindlewald...of course not. As rumored (and predicted) actor Mads Mikkelsen will take up the mantle of Gerlette Grindlewald in the next installment of the series. Due to this recasting and the current COVID-19 pandemic, the untitled third Fantastic Beasts film has been delayed until July 15, 2022.

Green Lanterns Light

A few scenes into the final moments of Arrow, John Diggle received a mysterious gift from the sky above. Yeah, it was a freakin' Green Lantern Corp ring! David Ramsey will return as John Diggle for five episodes in 2021. If we see this former member of Team Arrow light up in the Green Lantern attire, this will be the first live action appearance of the character in the Arrowverse.

Hey Elliot!

Best known for the X-Men movie series, Inception, Juno, and his latest hit series, The Umbrella Academy that just got picked up for a third season on Netflix came out as transgender on Tuesday. Check out his tweet below for the full statement.

Movies To The Max

First off, to clarify, yes, this story is 100% real and people are loving it! In a bold announcement made by Warner Brothers this past Thursday, all of their movies on deck for 2021 will stay on track with their current release dates AND like Wonder Woman 1984 be available to stream the same day on HBO Max. That subscription is looking really nice right about now, isn't it? Below are some of the movies ready to go for 2021.

  • Tom & Jerry - March 5, 2021
  • Godzilla vs. Kong - May 21, 2021
  • Space Jam: A New Legacy - July 16, 2021
  • The Suicide Squad - August 6, 2021
  • Dune - October 1, 2021
  • Matrix 4 - December 22, 2021
  • Those Who Wish Me Dead - TBD
  • Mortal Kombat - TBD

Missing from this list is the first part, actually, any part, of the long awaited Snyder Cut of Justice League. Although this version is still scheduled to be released in 2021 as four 1-hour parts, Warner Brothers is treating the movie as a mini-series. That could be why there is no start date.

Woo-oo?

So, as of Friday December 4th, 2020 there has been no official word from Disney that the 2017 reboot of Ducktales has been canceled, however, this pretty much tells us that it's true. In a very Ducktales way, check out the tweet that Ben Schwartz (voice of Dewey..or the blue one) shared to fans from the reboots creators.

Okay, now I'm a sad geek. I love this Ducktales series. Anyways, check out the latest issue of the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast on iHeart Radio or wherever else you listen to podcasts. This past issue ties into the announcement made by Warner Brothers regarding their movies. Make sure you check it out, rate, and review!

Until next week.

I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
