The Tokyo Olympics Are In Jeopardy Says IOC Member with Unfortunate Name

I'm be honest, with all the news around the spread of coronavirus, the last thing I was thinking about was the Tokyo Olympics. But the spread of the virus around the world has out the global event in jeopardy. A senior IOC member said there's an estimated three month window where, "I’d say folks are going to have to ask: ‘Is this under sufficient control that we can be confident about going to Tokyo or not?’” he said in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press.

Yes that's all well and good, global epidemics are no joke and should be taken seriously. But the thing that got me hung up was the name of that IOC member. Dick Pound is his name. I had to take a second to control my laughter. Apparently he's a former Canadian swimming champion and has is the IOC's senior member, serving since 1978. Could you imagine having Dick Pound on your business card for that long and not even consider going by Richard or D. Pound? This man has BALLS and I'm glad he's one of the people making the decision on if the Tokyo Olympics happen this year. Find more info about the decision and Dick Pound here.
