Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Have Moved To Los Angeles With Archie

Goodbye, Canada!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially moved to the United States. The Duke of Duchess of Sussex had been living in Canada since November, however, they opted not to make Vancouver Island their permanent home. According to People, Meghan and Harry flew California some time before Canada's border closure last week. As of now, however, Buckingham Palace has not commented on or confirmed the news of the Sussexes' big move.

This move will come as no surprise to anybody who's been following Meghan and Harry since their May 2018 weddings. Long before they announced their move to Canada, sources revealed the Sussexes' were considering doing just that. In late 2019, sources began suggest their final destination would be Meghan's home state of California. "It would allow Meghan to be close to her mother and the majority of her friends," royal commentator Kristen Meinzer told Insider last year. "It would give Archie a grounding in one half of his culture. And it would better connect Harry to his wife's history, and his own — let's not forget that Princess Diana's great-grandmother, Frances Ellen Work, was an American."

While Harry reportedly remains estranged from much of his family back in England, including Prince William, Meghan is quite close with her mom, Doria Ragland. She also has a tight knit circle of friends in the States, as well, including Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra and Abigail Spencer. After Archie's birth last year, Meghan reportedly felt isolated at her Frogmore Cottage home. A source told Us Weekly that constant criticism from the British tabloid press also caused Meghan to suffer from panic attacks.

With all the uncertainty right now because of COVID-19, Meghan and Harry could have become isolated from their support system in L.A. yet again if they had remained in Canada. For now, the Sussexes' are living in a "secluded compound," according to People, and haven't ventured outside yet because of the pandemic. “Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family,” a source told the outlet. “They will be spending time in California. He’s not looking back.”
