Sara Evans' Father Has Died Following Battle With Alzheimers

Country music singer-songwriter Sara Evans' father, Jack Evans, died this week. The singer turned to social media to reveal the sad news in an emotional statement to fans on Wednesday (November 25).

"Yesterday was a very sad day. We lost our dad. Jack Evans," she wrote alongside a collection of photos from his life. "He was funny, handsome, and loved by all. Dad, I will miss you so much. And love you always. R.I.P. #everyonelookslikeyou"

While the official cause of death hasn't been made public, Evans has been open with fans about her dad's battle with Alzheimer's disease. In her memoir, Born To Fly, the singer reflected on difficulties she experienced following her parent's divorce, expressing a bit of regret at moments she might've been too hard on her dad.

"As we've gotten older and when my dad first got sick, it wasn't easy for us five siblings because I think we each had different thoughts," she said in a recent interview, while discussing her memoir. "I've probably been the hardest on my dad. I was the oldest girl; I was 12 when they divorced. So from birth until 12, I had him, and I was the center of his attention. So that just all completely changed and went away when they divorced."

Evans also touched on how hard it's been for anyone with a family member in a nursing home or care facility amid the coronavirus pandemic. She explained how due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to her father throughout the year has been greatly impacted.

"He is in Dallas in essentially a nursing home for Alzheimer's patients," she added at the time. "With COVID-19, it's been awful because no one who knows him can go and touch him and see him. So he's literally just kind of fading away."
