Over the weekend, the heavy metal icons were performing for the opening ceremony for the annual gaming convention held by Blizzard Entertainment. The show was live streamed for free on the Twitch Gaming channel, and things were going well for a minute… until the band broke into “For Whom The Bell Tolls.”
That’s when suddenly, instead of rock n’ roll, fans started hearing an instrumental song, which Twitch replaced Metallica’s live tunes with to avoid a Digital Millennium Copyright ACT (DMCA) takedown.
Fans freaked until they figured it out. A separate stream was created and the show went on. Here's what it sounded & looked like.
