If I've said it once- I've said it a billion times: Three Day Weekends should be a law.
And it started Friday night at Dave and Jo's house. And Im sorry - I don't know if it's more of a New England thing or not- but is there anything better than chilling around a fire place on a cool late summer night with a bunch of friends?
I know. This looks like I don't have any friends. Fair point. BUT- i was just the first one to head down and take a seat. Moments later we were all having some drinks, chilling and laughing. It was a perfect night for it too!
And even though it ended about 11pm - I was still up at 4:30a, heading out with the camera. I knew the weather was going to suck, but still - you never know what you're gonna get, right? On bad weather days you just have to re-focus on what you want. Instead of going for a sunrise- you go and look for smaller things. In this case- I went to Cape Porpoise in Maine to photograph some beat up old skiffs and dories. I love how weathered they are, showing years and years of the tough work on the sea.
And you can also play around a bit to make a simple photo a little more dramatic - its a technique called "selective color", or "color splashing".
Here's another example from Kennebunkport ME -
After the mornings shoot, we did an apple run out to Butternut Farm in Farmington!
Oh and of course - we got apples too - haha
We then headed out on another Brew Tour stop - this time we headed to Meredith to Twin Barns Brewing!
Had a great time chilling there, listening to tunes and trying some beers! Im pretty sure i tried the "Winni Sun" and it was really good!
Finally got to seeing this movie on Saturday night- and it was pretty good!
Did some shopping for the upcoming Iceland trip. Saw this-
Umm....that's the name the brilliant marketing came up with? I thought that was the guy version of "camel toe"!
Sunday night we took my parents out to a Mexican spot we really like - (La Carona in Rochester NH). And this is what I'll share with ya-
Connie ripping it hard on the first Margarita she's ever had!!! Hahah -
And on Monday- I headed back out with the camera and ended up in Tamworth watching the sunrise hit Mt Chocorua -
And last but not least- a moment from the weekend:
Valerie- "Daisy, do you know's been ripping the stuffing out of all your chew toys?"
Daisy-
"I have no idea what you're talking about...."
hahah -
She's a great dog. So glad we found her.
Hope you all had a good weekend-
