The weekend started for me at 10:05am on Friday. The way I see it - I start work on Sunday afternoon about 4p (True!) - so as of Friday at 10:05am - I'm a ghost. You want to have a meeting? I don't think so. I get everything done ahead of time so I can bolt- and on Friday - I did, and headed for the White Mountains to take a look around and get a feel for what the foliage looked like. I love to photograph our most beautiful season - so i headed out for Bath NH. Bath has a few covered bridges within a few mile stretch, and they basically sit over waterfalls. Another photography plus! So here was my first stop - the first bridge along Rt 112 (the Kancamagus). It was built in 1849.
After that - the next one down by the Post Office -
Then it was over to Sugar Hill and Crawford Notch....
I was looking for bears, believe it or not- but instead I saw this woman walking down the road - and I couldn't help but take a photo of her. Such a peaceful scene- and she made the image come to life.
And then to Crawford Notch to the famous train station -
On Saturday- I had to fill up on some mac apples because in the fall - we NEVER run out of em- so it was off to Butternut Farm to pick em!
Then it was off to the pub crawl with Roadkill, Kayla and a bunch of listeners!
And on Sunday - I was up and out on the road with the camera at 3:30am - to get to Errol NH, Wilson Mills ME, Dixville Notch NH, Umbagog Lake, Colebrook, Guildhall VT and then home! Heres a few from that day long roadtrip! Here's a road just north of Errol -
Then Wilsons Mills - a river fed by a damn of a power plant right across the street-
And another cool stretch of road in North Oxford ME - it was a gorgeous morning.
And then this happened-
Oops.....
I guess when I was coming down from Dixville Notch, which is an extremely steep road - i was coasting just a bit to fast! :). The police officer was at the base of the hill and flashed his blues and pointed at me to pull over - which I did immediately. As he was walking up to the car he said - "Nothing to worry about- just wanted to ask you to slow down a little bit". I guess I was doing about 10 mph over the limit. He was very professinal and nice - and gave me a verbal warning. And I was on my way -
I got home about 230pm - and Valerie said she had something she wanted us to do - so I said - "Sure! What is it?"
"LETS GO TO PORTLAND!" - she said!
And after already driving for 8 hrs, and getting up at 3:30am- you know what I said?
"OK! LETS GO!"
And we were off!
(I ain't an idiot- after 8 hrs of doing what I wanted - it was her turn. What's the saying? "Happy Wife, Happy Life"? )
Hope you had a good weekend-
