Thanksgiving may be next week, but Christmas is here and it’s all over what’s happening this weekend in Chicago…
Today is the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival! The festivities start at 11am with activities all along Michigan Avenue until the annual parade steps off from Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Avenue, starting at 5:30pm. Check out the lights adorning over 200 trees along Michigan Avenue, with Grand Marshals Mickey and Minnie Mouse leading a procession of floats, marching bands, celebrities, and giant helium balloons—including the debut of the parade’s first-ever Muppet ballons, a 60-foot-tall Santa Kermit The Frog and his pal, 50-foot-tall Animal.
Christkindlmarket, the iconic German-inspired holiday market opened yesterday at Daley Plaza… it’s open through December 24th at 11am every day. It’s free to attend and weave your way through all the festive booths filled with handmade gifts, food and plenty of hot beverages to keep you warm.
Light of Christmas drive through lights dispay is back through January 5th at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the White Sox. See Christmas lights while staying warm as you drive through a tunnel of more than one million LED lights synchronized with holiday music.
Check out Mariah Carey’s Black Irish Holiday Pop-up Bar and Lounge at the Virgin Hotel Chicago through December 29th, a glamourous winter wonderland with holiday-themed cocktails, inspired by Mariah, photo opps to recreate Mariah Christmas moments, plus singing to 30 years of Mariah’s hit Christmas tunes, and you can write a letter to Mariah and sent your holiday wish list. This is all ahead of her show next week, Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time coming to the Allstate Arena next on Wednesday, November 27th (& we have tickets to give away all weekend long!)
Plus SLAVE has two shows this weekend for Funk Fest at Freedom Hall in Park Forest, tonight at 7:30pm and tomorrow at 3pm…
And next week, the Carden International Circus returns to the Civic Center in Hammond, Indiana from Friday, November 29th thru Sunday, December 1st. Get a free kid’s ticket with each adult ticket purchased. Enjoy amazing feats from acrobats to their amazing elephants, camels and horses. Come early for face painting, animal rides and inflatables.
