The head of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce says the Cape could really use a venue for big events.
Paul Niedzwiecki says the Cape is losing access to its largest conference center with the sale of the Cape Cod Irish Village in Hyannis to the Riverview School.
That leaves the Margaritaville Resort's ballroom with a capacity of 400 as the region's largest event space.
Niedzwiecki says the Cape could really use a good-sized facility that could handle sporting events, boat shows and conventions, which could add even more tourism dollars to local coffers.
He says an effort to get such a venue built will take a lot of support from the community and its leaders.
