People are rescheduling their appointments with the Texas Department of Public Safety because of a computer outage that forced the closing of DPS offices.
In a social media post about 3 pm on Monday, the agency posted the notice, "DPS is currently experiencing an outage that is impacting driver license offices statewide," as Texans trying to go to the department's website get "the site can't be reached" prompts, or "hmm...can't reach this page.".
The agency said it's working to reschedule Monday's appointments and get the website working again, but because of the holidays, DPS locations will remain closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Drivers license offices are expected to reopen on Thursday.
DPS offered no explanation as to how the "outage" began or when it might be fixed, saying in a statement, “Our staff is working with affected customers to reschedule their appointments as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”
