A passenger on a Brightline train that collided with a fire truck in Delray Beach is reflecting on the experience.
A dozen passengers and three firefighters were injured when the passenger train struck the fire truck near East Atlantic Avenue.
"We felt a hard brake and then an immediate violent impact. I was thrown into the table. There was a lot of momentum."
Zach Thrasher tells CBS 12 News that he saw the crossing arms down before and after the fire truck tried to cross the tracks on Saturday.
There was a freight train that had passed just before the fire truck approached the crossing and he thinks the driver may have believed that was the only train on the tracks at the time.
Firefighters were responding to an emergency call.
The passengers suffered only minor injuries and the firefighters are in stable condition.
