A gas leak on Madison Avenue in Albany caused the closure of the street between Lark Street and Dove Street on New Year's Eve. National Grid, the utility company responsible for the gas lines, worked throughout the day to address the issue. According to NEWS10 ABC, the leak was located between 340 and 348 Madison Avenue, leading to the closure of the area to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

The Albany Police Department confirmed the road closure, ensuring public safety while repairs were underway. Despite the inconvenience, there was no immediate danger to the public, as reported by CBS6 Albany. National Grid crews remained on site for most of the day to repair the leak and ensure the area was safe before reopening the street.

The incident occurred during a busy time as residents and visitors celebrated New Year's Eve. However, the swift response by National Grid and local authorities helped manage the situation effectively. The road was expected to reopen once repairs were completed and safety was assured.
