On December 15th, Brooke Comer’s dog went missing. At one point, it seemed that all of Green Cove Springs, Florida was on the hunt for Athena, the four-year-old German shepherd mix, with others from as far away as Jacksonville pitching in to help. Then, at 2:30 am on Christmas Eve, she was awakened by the sound of the doorbell ringing. It was Athena on her hind legs scratching at the door, and simultaneously ringing the bell, to let everyone know she was home. Comer describes it as a “Christmas miracle” the day before Christmas.
