NY Judge Upholds Trump’s Conviction in Hush Money Case, Sentencing Date Set

Judge Juan Merchan has ordered President-elect Donald Trump to appear for sentencing in the New York hush money case on Friday, January 10.

Trump made an effort to throw out the jury’s verdict because of his reelection in November but Judge Merchan has rejected that.

Merchan said Trump can appear virtually or in person for his sentencing, which is 10 days before Inauguration Day on January 20. He also said Trump will not face jail time or penalties. Trump was found guilty by a jury in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Trump's lawyers have already indicated they would appeal any effort to sentence him prior to Inauguration Day.
