Former Chicago Bulls Star Derrick Rose has always given back to the community and Thursday was no different. He set up a 1-day pop-up flower shop called Rose’s on Thursday afternoon at Tortoise Supper Club near Marina City. It was only open for 4 hours with the theme, “Stop and Smell the Roses.”
Fans started lining up on Wednesday night for the chance to take pictures with Derrick and send free rose bouquets to people who had an impact on their lives, delivered to anyone in a 15-mile radius. By Thursday morning, thousands were wrapped around blocks in the cold.
The pop-up shop was set up to promote Thursday night’s screening of the documentary “Becoming a Rose,” Derrick’s love letter to Chicago. Derrick retired in September and will be honored tonight at United Center as the Bulls face the Knicks at 7pm. His documentary will also be shown tonight at the United Center, where fans will get a Derrick Rose T-Shirt and can pick up one of 5,000 roses from a flower cart.
Celebrate Chicago's own & remember to always celebrate your magic too! xo
