Friday I got some work done on my car and had a handful of student meetings with some kids on my Speech team. We're in crunch time right now, so it's stressful, so I went to go see my favorite improv group, The Bearded Company, who opened their B Movies run at Strike Theater. I laughed a lot, it was great as always. They perform every first and third Friday at 9pm!
Was up late on Friday preparing for our practice Speech tournament that we do every year for the novices on the team so that the first real tournament isn't as scary! It went well - had someone call out "sick" the night before, and then had two kids randomly show up without having signed up, but we worked it all out. These kids are prepped and ready for TOURNAMENT SEASON, BABY! (Be prepared to see one of these photos every week for the next 11 weeks.)
Saturday night I hosted and narrated for Drinking Game MN's live script reading of The Emperor's New Groove, where they turn our favorite moves into drinking games. I read stage directions and rang a bell for every drinking cue. My bestie Justin played Kuzco!
Sunday I was set to be inside most of the day with more Speech meetings, some cleaning, and then was going to perform in an improv show in the evening. Since the sun was out, I thought I would go on a walk so I could see the lake all iced over. That was stupid. I slipped and fell, hit my head harder than I've ever hit my head, got whiplash, and spent the rest of the day monitoring my symptoms for concussion. Needless to say, I didn't do improv that night.
I always say winter Capp is my favorite Capp because he's SO cuddly. That and I know he can sense when I'm ill (or potentially concussed), so he's even more sweet and snuggly because he goes into nurse mode. I truly believe cats are therapy and this cat saves my sanity on the daily.
