Former Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg will be going to work for a county commissioner soon.
Ms. Ogg was DA from January 2017 until last month, after losing the most recent Democrat primary election to Sean Teare.
Now Precinct 3 County Commissioner Tom Ramsey says he's hired Ogg as a senior policy advisor for his office.
Mr. Ramsey is known as the only Republican among the four county commissioners; Ogg is a Democrat.
Ogg was also known for a rather adversarial relationship with some members of Harris County Commissioners Court, which is not really what we normally think of as a court, but refers to the governing body of a county (only in Texas and two other states)..
Among those who have been rather adversarial is fellow Democrat, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, who is not exactly a judge in the strict definition, but is the presiding officer over the Commissioners Court and can, in some cases, serve as a county court judge in certain civil and criminal cases.
Ogg sometimes clashed with commissioners over budget matters, especially those involving her office.
Now it appears the onetime political adversaries will be seeing each other often as part of their duties.
Most recently, as District Attorney Ogg handed over a legal case against some Hidalgo staffers to the Texas Attorney General's office, referring to "public corruption," raising the ire of Ms. Hidalgo, who had supported Teare in his run against Ogg.
Meanwhile, Teare filed a motion Thursday to recuse himself from three legal cases in connection with the prosecution of former Hidalgo staff members.
