Study: Iowa Sees Steady Population Numbers

(Des Moines, IA) -- The state of Iowa has seen steady population numbers over the past year, according to a yearly study. The United Van Lines National Movers Study looks at trends in the continental 48 states.

Eily Cummings is with UniGroup.

"We're really seeing some growth in the Des Moines area," Cummings says. "The inbound percentage rose just in the last year by 4 percentage points."

But Des Moines is not the only area seeing growth. Some portions of eastern Iowa are, too.

"The Quad Cities is an area that we're still seeing heavy inbound traffic as well," Cummings says. "That's pretty stable year over year...A lot of the other cities in Iowa are very balanced."

This year, the study lists proximity to family as the top reason for moves.
