Last season, Jerod Mayo was hailed as the heir apparent to Bill Belichick as he took over the head coaching duties in New England, but he’s out after just one year as the Patriots’ ownership sent him packing immediately after their final game of the season yesterday. There may have been more going on behind the scenes, but the optics on the quick trigger don’t look good.
Dan Patrick: “I was disappointed that you give somebody one year; one-and-done. And, I thought the Krafts would treat him better than that. But, you know, I don’t know how he was inside, I don’t have any sources there, I’m only going with the optics here.”
