Today, January 7th, marks the fifth anniversary of the death of the RIDICULOUSLY talented Rush drummer, Neil Peart.

The announcement of Peart's passing came three days later, Jan. 10m 2020, reporting that he had passed in Santa Monica, California at age 67. The cause of death was brain cancer, which he'd had for three years and sworn all those he told to secrecy.

Peart is survived by his wife, Carrie, and daughter, Olivia.

In my humble opinion, as a hobbyist, and not very good, drummer, Peart is the greatest rock drummer of all time. And I say that not being a huge Rush fan, although I greatly admire the musicianship of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson as well. Granted, there are MANY brilliant rock drummers whose songs I could never play, but most of the Peart catalogue is the stuff I cannot play the most, if that makes sense.

As evidence of my claim of Peart's GOAT-ness, I submit Exhibit A of him playing the mind-blowing "YYZ" as viewed from the "Peart Cam"... - Kevin

Still not convinced? Check out this clip of Peart's "Ultimate Drum Solo" on Letterman back in 2011...
