Notre Dame Head Football Coach, Marcus Freeman answered a question about possibly becoming the first black head coach in a National Title game and he basically said that race shouldn’t matter. Doug agrees 100% that race shouldn’t matter, but that doesn’t mean that this milestone for college football isn’t important, because it is truly significant.
Doug Gottlieb: “There is a sentiment out there that believes what Marcus Freeman said was knocking down the idea that it’s of the significance of having two black head coaches, and having one black head coach in the first ever true College Football Playoff...It would be completely disingenuous for someone to say, ‘Not that big a deal.’ C’mon man! Like, what are we doing? You can admit it’s a big deal. It doesn’t mean that because of the numbers everybody is still racist the way they would have been racist 40, 50 years ago, but it’s like, I mean, it’s a big thing.”
