City Council has unanimously voted to deny CenterPoint Energy's request to increase their rates. The proposed increase would have added around $1.83 to the average residential energy bill.
CenterPoint claimed that they needed the rate increase in order to meet "the current and future demand for one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation."
The cities Administration and Regulatory Affairs department have said they where concerned with the expedited nature of the request, and recommended it be denied because they didn't have time to properly review it.
