The Association to Preserve Cape Cod has been awarded a grant to restore fish habitat and passage along the Mashpee River.
The 2-point-58-million-dollars from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and additional local funding will focus on improving fish passage in the upper river, restoring a natural wetland from an abandoned cranberry bog near Washburn Pond, and conducting a comprehensive hydrological assessment.
APCC Executive Director Andrew Gottlieb says the project represents a significant step towards preserving the health and vitality of the Mashpee River.
