The Biggest Wedding Trends Of The Year

We’re in the thick of engagement season, the most popular time of the year for proposals. According to wedding planning site The Knot, November through February is the peak time for people to pop the question. All those couples will be having weddings in the near future and experts are sharing the biggest trends we’ll see at nuptials this year.

  • Floral arrangements minus the flowers - Why have flowers by themselves when you can mix up the centerpieces with produce? Arrangements with florals mixed with fruits and vegetables will be popular, and some couples are skipping the flowers altogether and using succulents or tropical plants instead.
  • Calla lilies are here to stay - Brides and bridesmaids still need flowers to hold when they walk down the aisle and the favorite for 2025 is calla lilies, with experts calling their long stems “chic and elegant.”
  • Cutting the cake-cutting - The tradition of couples cutting their cake in a ceremony that included them feeding each other a bite may be a thing of the past. Instead of posing for the staged moment, some newlyweds are cutting the cake in private without guests watching, or just skipping it entirely.
  • Brides are getting colorful - While wedding guests know they should never wear white, some brides are doing the same, opting for colorful gowns in any shade they like.
  • Bridesmaids in pantsuits - A lot of brides are moving away from traditional dresses for their bridal party, instead having them wear jumpsuits or pantsuits that can actually be worn again.
  • ChatGPT is helping grooms write their speeches - Sure, the AI tool can be helpful, but do you really want to trust it at this important moment? At least be sure to proofread anything ChatGPT writes, as one wedding coordinator recently witnessed a groom who didn’t and says it was “hard to watch” that speech.
  • Grooms are doing outfit changes for the reception - Brides changing into multiple looks from the ceremony to the reception to the afterparty is nothing new, but now grooms are getting in on the fun, too.
  • Black tie weddings at a dive bar - You don’t have to be in a fancy venue to get all dressed up and dive bars are edgy, with a lot of character, which more couples are embracing for their event.
