They may have been called the "bad boys" of rock and roll, but when it came to the power of Ed Sullivan they were no match. On this day 58 years ago The Rolling Stones were all set for their 4th appearance on the popular TV show when they were instructed to change the lyrics to the song "Let's Spend The Night Together." Apparently, network censors thought "Let's spend some time together" would be more appropriate for American youth.
The band acquiesced and every time Mick Jagger sang the line he rolled his eyes in silent protest. If you watch closely you'll notice he DOES manage to slip in the correct words once about midway through.
