Kohl's recently announced that they would be shuttering a handful of locations across the United States (including one in Pennsylvania) this spring as part of a long-term growth strategy for the future of their business and their customers.
According to a press release distributed by the beloved discount retail company, 27 stores across 15 states will be permanently shut down by April 2025. The company currently operates more than 1,150 locations across the U.S and employees of stores closing their doors in the coming months will receive "competitive severance packages" and the opportunity to apply to open roles elsewhere.
Per the release:
"All associates have been informed, and offered a competitive severance package or the ability to apply to other open roles at Kohl's. Kohl's thanks our associates for their work and is working to support our associates during this transition."
Tom Kingsbury, Kohl’s chief executive officer, assured longtime customers that corporate took the decision to close the 27 underperforming stores "very seriously."
"We always take these decisions very seriously. As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams."
Locations closing across Pennsylvania include:
- Pottstown - 351 W Schuylkill Rd.
