The federal government is giving the city of Grand Rapids $25 million to replace the East Beltline Bridge.
The project will completely replace the bridge while adding bicycle lanes and pedestrian walkways.
The Michigan Department of Transportation currently rates the bridge as "poor" according to its Michigan Bridge Conditions Map.
The project is expected to begin in 2027.
