The last few years have given us major advancements in the technology of artificial intelligence. There are few industries that are not affected by the new technology and medicine is no different. Professor of Bioethics at NYU Langone Medical Center Dr. Arthur Caplan spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the use of AI in medicine, and some of the positives it brings.
“AI does a better job detecting abnormalities than the human eye, AI doesn’t get tired…it doesn’t have a bad day at the office,” Dr. Caplan told host Larry Mendte. “It’s working all the time and it’s more accurate; that leads to the cures.”
Dr. Caplan does however believe that there are negatives to this technology and that preparation is necessary to protect us: “We’re going to need severe penalties for people who hack in and steal that information.”
