New York City Mayor Eric Adams has indicated he’s open to cooperating with border czar Tom Homan’s plans to round up illegal migrants with criminal records to ensure the safety of New Yorkers. What Adams has done, however, seems to be less than enthusiastic in that regard. Many pundits are wondering why Adams has not yet passed an executive order that would allow ICE agents to do their job and arrest illegal migrants. City Councilman Robert Holden (D-30th) is one of those voices; he appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program and stated that it looks like the mayor is playing both sides of the issue.
“It’s almost like which way is the wind blowing today with this mayor, and it’s frustrating,” Holden told host Larry Mendte. “We’re talking about criminals, just removing criminals, and now you see the left- you know, he’s got one foot on the left and one foot on the right, and that’s the problem here. He’s got a lot of DiBlasio leftovers who he’s listening to, and that’s the problem with this mayor. He has to really flush out the old DiBlasio administration and get some guts here. I could use some other terms here, but he doesn’t have the guts, really. So, he wants it both ways. He sits on the fence, and it’s very frustrating.”
Holden added the mayor may want to act quickly, as some state leaders are drawing up legislation to thwart ICE in New York State. “These are all people that brought us bail reform and Raise the Age, all the things that backfired and raised crime; now they’re trying to come up with bills to protect illegal aliens who have committed crimes. You know what- charge these senators, charge these assembly people, charge the elected officials that are harboring criminals by creating these laws that are certainly contrary to federal law.”
