HOUSTON – The Texans signed veteran offensive tackle Cam Robinson to a one-year contract with a maximum value of $14.5 million, per a league source.
The deal has a base value of $12 million.
By adding Robinson, the Texans can line him up at left tackle and potentially have Tytus Howard stay inside at offensive guard or shift to right tackle. The Texans had made fluid plans to have Howard at left tackle after trading five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders and have second-year tackle Blake Fisher line up at right tackle.
Robinson, 29, is a former Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft pick from Alabama.
He was played last season for the Minnesota Vikings after being traded from Jacksonville.
He started seven games last season for the Jaguars and 10 games for the Vikings.
