A woman and an infant died and two children were taken to a hospital after being pulled from a vehicle submerged in water in Channelview.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at around 4:45 p.m. at 17350 Market Street Friday.
Deputies said witnesses dove into the water and rescued two children, believed to be around 5 and 7 years old. The body of a 39 year old woman and a 1 year old was recovered from the water.
A dive team and marine unit also responded to the scene.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it's possible that the driver had some sort of medical emergency. Investigators are trying to determine what exactly led to the vehicle entering the water.
