IKEA is set to open a new store at Destiny USA in Syracuse, marking its first location in upstate New York. Scheduled to open by the end of 2025, the store will occupy the former At Home space, offering a 70,000-square-foot shopping experience. This will be the third IKEA store in New York, joining locations in Brooklyn and Long Island.
According to IKEA U.S., the Syracuse store will feature fully furnished room settings and a curated selection of over 3,000 products, including home furnishing accessories and approximately 75 small furniture items. Larger items, such as sofas and beds, can be ordered online with options for free store pickup or low-cost delivery.
The store will also include a central planning area where customers can design and order home furnishing solutions, with assistance from IKEA team members. Additionally, customers can enjoy Swedish food favorites like meatballs and cinnamon buns at the in-store café.
The opening of IKEA Syracuse comes as a boost for Destiny USA, which has faced financial challenges in recent years. The mall, owned by Pyramid Management Group, has experienced a loss of major tenants and is currently facing a possible foreclosure. The addition of IKEA is expected to attract more visitors and enhance the mall's appeal.
IKEA's commitment to sustainability will be evident in the Syracuse store, which will feature an "as-is department" offering gently used and discontinued items. This initiative aims to give products a second life and help customers furnish their homes more sustainably.
