Omaha Police Announce Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Numbers

As law enforcement now readies for special traffic enforcement efforts for Christmas through New Years, Omaha Police announce results from Thanksgiving.

The OPD Traffic Unit took part in the “Make it Click” High Visibility Mobilization from November 26th through November 30th, working with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, with an emphasis on seatbelt use.

Omaha Police conducted five operations throughout the city during the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, resulting in 532 citations being issued.

The following are some highlights:

-- Speeding 104

-- Other Moving Violations 58

-- Seatbelt 49

-- Registration/Insurance Violations 257

-- Driver's License Violations 59

-- Driving Under the Influence (DUI) 3 (1 felony)

-- Warrants Cleared 1

-- Negligent Driving 3
