(Iowa) -- A new study finds most fatal crashes in Iowa happen on highways, not interstates.

Insurance comparison website iSelect examined crash state over the past five years and found that 19% of fatal crashes in Iowa happened on interstates. By comparison, 27% percent of deadly crashes happened on state highways, and 36% happened on U.S. highways during that same time period. 18% of fatal crashes were reported on local streets.

The study finds the most dangerous in Iowa are:

  1. I-80
  2. I-35
  3. US-34
  4. US-30
  5. I-29
  6. US-20
  7. SR-92
  8. US-61
  9. US-63
  10. I-380

The full study is available on the iSelect website.
