Happy Avengers Weekend Everyone!

Everyone is running to the theater like this battle scene in Infinity War.

By now, most have already seen the film. I say that because Endgame is breaking a ton of records. Thursday night alone it made $60 million! That beats The Force Awakens Thursday night record of $57 million, which was the highest in history but now Avengers toppled that! Does it matter? Both are owned by Disney so the accounting guys must be foaming at the mouth.

My rating....a solid B. There are many plot holes and they could have taken out a few scenes so it wasn't a three hour film...HOWEVER, that's just nitpicking. This movie served as a great and perfect conclusion to the entire decade of the MCU...now called the "Infinity Saga". But does this mean it's the end of Phase Three? wellll....

Endgame Isn't The End

Kind of...odd, right? I remember back when Marvel introduced the phases. I remember vaguely hearing in interviews that an Avengers film would be the ones too officially end each one because they acted as a conclusion to that phases story arc. That was a great idea! But then that changed...Age of Ultron came out but then Ant-Man was dubbed the official "end" of phase two. Also, many thought we were in Phase Four of the MCU after Avengers: Infinity War...but in reality we are still in phase three. Confused? Yeah, me too. Looks like it's the same story again. Avengers: Endgame won't be the end of phase 3...Spider-Man: Far From Home looks to take that mantle.

I've always had this gripe with Marvel Studios. They say one thing, then change their minds. It's annoying and we give them a pass because they are Marvel. WE SHOULDN'T DO THAT. We are just enabling them to do it again! Say what you want about the DCEU...at least they stick to their guns on choices for better and well, mainly worse.

Long unexpected rant aside...I do have a theory to why we see Nick Fuery in the next Spider-Man film. Is it a reason to not have phase three conclude with Endgame? No...well, maybe. I have the red strong out to connect things...I need more time and when I'm done I'll have it for the Geek Freak of the Week: Podcast. it's going to be apart of my Endgame review. I'm working on it now, should be out next week!

EEEEEEERRRRAAAAAA

That was suppose to be the Godzilla roar...accurate? Anyways, not sure if this is a thing, but it happened to me when I was in the theater to see Avengers. The trailers began for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, I expected it, nothing out of the ordinary because it's set to be a big film for the summer. However, it seemed longer than expected. People in my area were noticing it and were looking at each other with a confused look. After the trailer ended, or so we thought, it lead directly into a full blown scene from the movie. We saw characters from the trailers in deep talks and then resurrected King Ghidorah, the three headed titan. After his massive entrance, we see a quick show of his power which lead into a battle with Godzilla. One person yelled "SPOILERS MUCH!" Did this happen to you, or something similar? For me, despite seeing things that could have waited for when I saw the film, I got hooked! I was never a big Godzilla fan, but the whole monster-verse curiosity is building itself on me so I guess this movie can take my money.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters arrives in theaters this May

Straight From The Swamp

If this thing ever showed up to either Shrek or Kermit the Frogs swamps, they'd leave VERY fast. DC is getting into the horror genre it seems. Coming soon to the DC Universe take a look at their next series, Swamp Thing!

Villain...Bond Villain

The rumors are confirmed. Freddie Mercury...I mean, Rami Malek has been cast to play the next Bond Villain for...Bond 25. Still no title...I was kind of hoping one would be announced with this casting, but hey, can't win them all. This movie has had it's ups and down. First, no one knew if Daniel Craig would return to play our favorite secret spy. Next, Director Danny Boyle left (and took his script with him). Between a new script and finding a new director it seems casting someone as popular as Rami Malek to play the villain is a wise choice to get people into this film again. He's a great actor, can't wait for the trailers to start surfacing!

Ok, that's it for this weeks Geek Freak of the Week. I had a late night seeing Avengers:Endgame...before we depart ways, what IF Thanos' snap actually happened? For all we know there are cosmic beings protecting these stones and some giant purple dude is after them. One of my favorite YouTube channels, Alternate History Hub, explored this theory. Go watch...and enjoy! Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week: Podcast, listen to past episodes by clicking here! New episode, Avengers themed of course, will be out soon!

I'm Maz and that's your Geek Freak of the Week!
