You know what weekend is here.....

Light Saber's Ready!

May the 4th be with you! Star Wars Weekend is here my fellow padawans!. All day Saturday...literally, midnight through midnight, it's all the Star Wars films TBS is allowed to play. Here's the line up.

  • 12am - The Phantom Menace
  • 3:20am - Attack of the Clones (I hate...LOATH that title)
  • 6:25am - Revenge of the Sith
  • 9:30am - A New Hope
  • 12:15pm- The Empire Strikes Back
  • 3:02pm - Return of the Jedi
  • 6:00pm - The Force Awakens
  • 9:00pm - Rogue One

I love this time of the year. However, why Rogue One is out of continuity, your guess is as good as mine. Most likely they want it to play during prime time on Saturday because it's so new for the network. Regardless, thank Jabba's hut that this years Star Wars Day is on a weekend. Now I'll have an excuse to not go out to do anything.

Here is a random fact: depending on what movie you watch, Yoda has different number of toes. In Phantom Menace he has three, but in Revenge of the Sith and Empire Strikes Back he has four. You'll thank me when this is a question in trivia someday!

Of course, we can't go into this weekend without a heavy heart. This was announced on Thursday via his family on twitter, but sadly, Peter Mayhew, the actor behind our favorite co-pilot, Chewbacca, passed away on April 30th.

Wands At The Ready!

The next Fantastic Beasts film has a date! Sticking with Harry Potter tradition, November is the magical month. Expect the third installment to arrive right before Thanksgiving, November 12th, 2021. Very little has been revealed about this movie, however, JK Rowling has posted a few tweets about Brazil...mainly Rio. Could we be heading south of the equator to a school for witchcraft and wizardry in Brazil?! We know one exists thanks to Pottermore.com, it's called Castelobruxo. The students wear green cloaks and are more advanced in Herbology and the care for magic creatures then most of the other schools out there. My spidy-sense tells me this is going to be the place we find Newt hanging out after the events from Crimes of Grindelwald.

Anyone want to try to guess what the title is? I bet they pull a Endgame and Rise of Skywalker and not tell us until they have footage to make a trailer. That seems to be the way to go now!

Look What Sped In!

The first trailer for the new and live action Sonic arrived this past Tuesday. I'm sure you have opinions on this already. I'm going ask this...what were we going to expect, though? No way we could get the animated version for this and it look...normal? That might not matter now. After fan out cry, looks like they are going to redesign Sonic. Check out that story here. I did like the sonic coins being used for the Paramount logo. Hey, it shows they care!

Sonic the Hedgehog runs into theaters November 8th.

Cord Cutters Rejoice!

If you don't have Pluto TV....get it! (And no I am not endorsed by them, although that would be AWESOME!) I discovered this free service about two years ago. Not only could I watch old school Godzilla movies and see some cartoons from Canada that never aired here in the US, it especially came in handy on Christmas Eve this year. My grandparents normally have a fireplace that they have roaring while everyone is over their house for the night. This year, that wasn't the case. So Maz came to the rescue. Pluto TV had a channel that was a Yule Log burning in a fire place with Christmas decorations around it. Along with the electric heater, it gave off the feel of the fire place. So yes, Maz is now officially in the business of saving Christmas. Fun story aside, I didn't know this next part.

Apparently Viacom, which is the parent company of MTV and Nickelodeon, recently purchased Pluto TV. So now, on top of the other stuff they have, a ton of stuff from Viacom's other properties and brands will be added to it's now growing channels!

Oh, and before we move on..they have a GREAT anime channel. It's sub titled only, but Pluto normally has series on it before Toonami has the dubbed versions. Since it's free, why not give it a shot!

Will You Be Watching The Watchman?

HBO is slowly gearing up for the shows post Game of Thrones and Veep. They need something to fill the void. Cue The Watchman! Although the movie was never a true hit maybe a TV series will do it justice. So far we have seen a few snips of images here and there but nothing concrete until the other day. HBO put out a few tweets to show us what kind of direction they are going towards. What do you think?

We'll end here. Also! May 4th is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! Here's a link to a few store locations.

Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week: Podcast. Latest episode is all about Avengers. And after saying that, the movie just made another billion dollars. Until next time. I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week! (insert tie fighter sound)
