Before we get started...there has been a TON of Batman news coming out this week. Including the rumors of Robert Pattinson from the Twlight series being the top contender to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the next solo film directed by Matt Reeves.
As of now, these are only rumors and nothing has been confirmed officially...if/when this does, this Geek Freak will be updated to reflect that news. Now...back to your regularly written program....
Another week has passed and Game of Thrones fans are MAD! Okay...so, let's talk abut the elephant (wait no, they didn't make it to Westeros)...uhm, right, let's say this...the DRAGON in the room! Fans are kind of disappointed with Daenerys and her actions in the second-to-last episode of Game of Thrones. Why's that? Even though King's Landing surrendered to her after she and her dragon fire bombed most of the Lannister and their allies armies...she went all dark side of the force and went on to incinerate the entire city while it's citizens ran for dear life. Yeah...this is suppose to be the new Queen that saved the Westeros from tyrannical rule?
Some fans are not to happy with the way things have worked out. Saying that this isn't Daenerys' character and that it came out of no where. She has been with the show since season one...which for Game of Thrones is very VERY rare and people have spent time getting to know her. She's become an icon for all the good she has done for the people in the show as she makes her way to claim the Iron Throne. In fact, fans have admired her so much that some have gone as far to name their new born daughters after her. Well, now those people have regretted their choices. I mean, when the kid gets older and starts to throw tantrums, you can say shes "destroying kings landing again!" ha....yeah, this is why I am never having kids. I laugh at those moments.
So far over THOUSANDS of people have decided to take on the show and DEMAND that this final season be redone. Ha...well, that won't happen! When Game of Thrones ends, this will be a part of the Geek Freak of the Week: Podcast. Until then...there is one more episode left. This Sunday 9pm on HBO. We've all waited to see how this ends so lets all sit back, relax and see what happens!
Time To Get Super with the CW
Make room on the couch and set the DVR's....the CW has announced it's line up for fall 2019. Here you go!
Sunday Nights: 8pm - Batwoman | 9pm - Supergirl
Monday Nights: 9pm - Black Lightning
Tuesday Nights: 8pm - The Flash | 9pm - Arrow
Some notes. Supergirl gets bumped to 9pm on Sundays, making way for the new series Batwoman. That's a great pairing. This means if those two shows ever cross over (and they should) they can do it all in one night. The Flash seems to be fine with its place in the 8pm Tuesday slot while Arrow gets moved (again) to Tuesday nights from Mondays. However, What's missing from this? Yup, Legends of Tomorrow.
But here's the thing....since Arrow has only a handful of episodes for it's final season it will most likely end by the crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, which means Legends is a great contender to take the 9pm time slot on Tuesdays after we say farewell to our emerald archer. The lead-in is set up perfectly because we know the Legends will be featured in this years crossover (unlike last years crossover Elseworlds, they were left out...don't worry, they were mad about it as well) We learned this in the season finale of The Flash. At the end of the episode the famous newspaper article written by Iris West-Allen that's in the time-vault have a "time-flux" and the date of the upcoming crisis changed from 2024 to 2019. If you look closely at it you see this line:
Star City's Green Arrow, White Canary, Supergirl, Batwoman, and a slew of legends began fighting the Reverse-Flash.
Yup...they are really getting everything in motion for the big Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. They even ended this seasons Arrow with a great tease. The Monitor himself returns to collect Oliver for the deal he made in exchange for Barry and Kara's lives in the 2018 Elseworlds crossover. You can watch that clip here. They really had this one all planned out. I give CW and the Arrowverse writers an A-plus for this. As far as Black Lightning goes...that show will not be included. An article from Superherohype.com stated that Crisis on Infinite Earths will unite five shows...an guess what, Black Lightning isn't on the list, Connecting the show to the Arrowverse aside, it seems CW is happy with it's time slot as it returns on Monday's this fall.
Hush Little Batman Don't Say A Word
Look what arrived! The latest film from the DC Animated Movie Universe is here! Batman will take on a foe named Hush. He's always one step ahead of Batman...the guy was able to get the Joker and many other members of Batman's rogues gallery to work for him. That is NOT an easy task to accomplish. This movie is based on one of the most popular Batman story lines that came out in 2002. I mentioned in another Geek Freak of the Week when this movie was announced that my geek gut was telling me this movie would lead into another BIG moment in Batman's life. Not only did the Hush story test Batman's knowledge it also showed the romantic relationship between Batman and Catwoman. Is a possible Batman:Wedding movie coming? Possibly...but I don't know anything about that one.
Watch the trailer below and expect the movie to drop this summer.
speaking of Batman....
Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO!
Let your nostalgia go WILD for this. The brand new crossover Batman vs TMNT is now streaming. Want to own a hard copy ? That will happen on June 4th. I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait for Mikey and Batman to have a conversation...it's going to be so awkward and hilarious at the same time. What could bring these two worlds of comics together? Short answer: Shredder. The Dark Knight and the Heroes-in-a-Half-Shell are teaming up to take on the Foot Clan and Shredder as they invade Gotham. This is going to be good....watch a quick preview below.
Disney Owns More
Maybe it will be easier to make a list of companies that Disney doesn't own. If you're wondering...WAIT?! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN! It was happening all along. Disney inherited the controlling shares of Hulu from the 20th Century Fox deal that just recently closed. The owner of the other shares? Rival company Comcast.... who also tried very hard to buy the same studio, but lost to Disney. It looks like Disney is spending that movie money well as they just bought out the Comcast shares and took full control of Hulu. Does this mean it's going bye-bye because Disney now has it's own streaming platform? I don't think so. Could you imagine The Handmaids Tale on Disney Plus and a child accidentally selected it? I wouldn't want to be on the other end of THAT phone call.
So far no changes have been announced...stay tuned.
That does it for this week! Make sure you're ready for this Sunday's FINAL episode of Game of Thrones.
Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast...latest episode about the Power Rangers has been posted so in case you missed it give it a listen!
