Look At That In The Water! It's The Geek Freak of the Week!

Happy Weekend Geek Freakers! Still at the gym to burn off all those calories that you consumed from eating hot dogs and hamburgers during the long Memorial holiday weekend? When you're done being healthy treat yourself to some downtime with Godzilla: King of the Monsters that is now in theaters.

You know this movie is just the beginning, right? Now that this film is out all the attention is going to be set forward to the next fight...Godzilla vs King Kong!

no, no, no....it'll be better then that one! Check out the new image for it!

That battle is ten months away. March 13, 2020.

Because this is a huge fan base (and I am just very unfamiliar with it) in the next Geek Freak of the Week Podcast I'll be chatting with a huge Godzilla fan. Expect that episode next week!

Alright, enough about giant lizards fighting each other...time for the other nerd news that came out this week!

The Batman Sparkles

He's going from vampire to bat-suit. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman for the upcoming film The Batman set to hit theaters June 25, 2021.

Is this a good choice? I think the question should be this...who IS a good choice now a days? Yes, some actors are better than others and for this role it's a huge responsibility that many do not want to take because it could mean career suicide in the sense of this:

  1. If they do a bad job everyone will ridicule them
  2. They get typed cast for the rest of their lives as a superhero actor and can't land another role

It sounds like I am defending this casting...in a way I am. I think most thought I'd be up in arms screaming and yelling because he was in the Twilight. I did that when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker...and boy do I take all those comments back! In fact, I see Rob Pattinson as a Terry McGinnis from Batman Beyond rather than a Bruce Wayne Batman. Maybe we will be surprised...maybe we won't. We're getting another Batman movie..a solo one. That character shines in the night on his own. Fingers cross!

Guess Who's Back...Back Again

Rick Flag is coming back for the sequel...reboot...relaunch....uhmm..next movie of Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn. Joel Kinnaman made the announcement via Instagram while being trained at a shooting range. Training? Now that Deadshot is being kicked out of the squad for the next movie maybe Rick will be the one to take the daring shots for the group. He and Deadshot started to bond in the last film..maybe he taught him a thing or two about shooting.

THE Suicide Squad is due in theaters August 6, 2021.

Hellllloo Jessica!

June 14th is when we will see our favorite binge drinking P.I. for one final season. Who is the creepy voice over guy in the this trailer? All we know is that Jessica is being hunted by some guy who thinks she's a fraud. A follower of Kilgrave? Maybe someone she caught cheating on his wife and this is revenge?

This season was shot before the cancellation announcement so maybe we will see an appearance from Daredevil or Luke Cage before things officially wrap up. Just a few short weeks away. Are you ready?

Lord Zedd Is Coming!

Take a look at this tweet for Boom! Studios. On the cover of Go! Go! Power Rangers issue #22 is the Emperor of Evil himself. We all knew Lord Zedd was going to be making a comeback at some point in the comics and it looks like he will be making his first stop in the Go Go Power Rangers comic before making it over to the Mighty Morphin main story. I just recently re-read the issues before Shattered Grid and I realized yet again Boom Studios did a great job with exploring and growing Rita and Goldar, making them even more menacing then before. Imagine what they can do with Lord Zedd in the comics!

You can expect Go! Go! Power Rangers issue #22 in stores and for download this August.

I just realized, the majority of this Geek Freak had a theme...it was all about shows and people returning to things. I don't think that has ever happened before in the history of the Geek Freak of the Week. Whoa....

Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast! New episode coming out next week!
