Re-Assemble For The Geek Freak of the Week!

We're back again! Has it been a week already? Who cares, it's the weekend..oh, and happy summer, bust out the shorts and flip flops! Just in time for summer there is a cool new game out there. That's why you come here, right? Harry Potter is now on your mobile devices! Introducing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Take a look at the trailer below! It's the first thing we are going to chat about in this weeks Geek Freak of the Week!

It's essentially the Harry Potter version of Pokemon-Go. It has very familiar graphics and concepts. If that bothers you...I wouldn't be upset. Before you get your wands in a bunch, the same company made both games. So I like the familiar stuff. Makes playing the game easier! I didn't get to play a whole lot of it...yet. That's what this weekend is for! Give it a try and remember to get your mobile chargers ready because this game drains so much battery life.

Alright...time to chat about the big news of the week:

Going For The Top!

Go big or go home, right? Despite all the money Avengers:Endgame has made...it's still not THE number one film of all time (money wise). That is still dominated by Avatar. Here's where everything stands

  • Avatar (2009) with $2,788,000,000.
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019) with $2,188,700,000.
  • Titanic (1997) with $2,187,500,000.

So Endgame is number two with only a few million away from dethroning Avatar? Challenge accepted. Marvel is re-releasing the final chapter with some extra post-credit footage! Will they be deleted scenes from the movie? Footage from the next MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home or maybe it's going to set up the future MCU now that X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four are in the mix. Will you be going again?

Hungry For More Games?

The Hunger Games is getting a prequel book...and movie. I guess Lionsgate needs another hit. So, what's the plot about? It will be set 64 years before the events of the series we know, the period of time called "The Dark Days". I think we can safely assume that there will be no Katniss/Jennifer Lawrence in this one...maybe a young President Snow or President Coin? Do the dates match up to how old they are? I don't know...math is NOT my thing. May 2020...that's when the book arrives.

Grab The Umbrella

If there's a tweet then that's confirmation. The Umbrella Academy is back! Season 2 production has BEGUN! We last saw our new favorite super family members try to stop their sister from destroying the world (and failing BAD) However...thanks to Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) they were last seen going back in time and the other siblings reverting back to their younger selves. if you haven't seen this show yet...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR! It's on Netflix...go binge!

Super Suit Up!

This October our favorite TV superheroes on the CW are gearing up for another season of crazy fights and drama. Some are shorter than others but after this falls big crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, the whole dynamic of the Arrowverse will be different. Here's when to set your DVR's.

Sunday October 6

Batwoman - 8pm | Supergirl - 9pm

Tuesday October 8th

The Flash - 8pm

Tuesday October 15th

Arrow (final season) - 9pm

Just A Week Away!

For season three of Stranger Things! Looks like the residents of Hawkins, Indiana aren't done battling all the monsters from the upside down. From the looks of things from the new trailer is Billy the new host? Are they going to have to kill him to finally end things? If they do I don't think Mike and Nancy's mother, Karen Wheeler, will like that. Since the series returns in a week, you could probably binge the first two seasons starting now and be all caught up by the time season three arrives on Netflix. Or...you could just watch a recap here

So to sum up...this is how your summer is looking:

  • Wake up - go play Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
  • Come inside, watch Stranger Things
  • After a few episodes, go to the movies and watch Avengers: Endgame with the new footage
  • Play a few more hours of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
  • Go to bed while watching more Stranger Things

Sounds great, right! I think so...oh, and see Spider-Man Far From Home. Can't forget about that.

Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast! I'll be sitting down (and geeking out) with a Disney movie fan for the next episode. That'll be out next week! I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
