Smile! The Geek Freak of the Week Is Here!

Another week has passed and we are officially in the spookiest month of the year. Oh, I'm not talking about Halloween. Joker is out in theaters! Seriously, this guy is crazy and I am glad they made an rated R movie for this version of his origin.

In the comics, his beginnings were pretty dark and twisted. We all know what Health Ledger's version of Joker said to people regarding how he "got those scares" in The Dark Knight. That's the brilliance of this character.

After you're done with this weeks Geek Freak, check out some of Jokers crazy moments from a post I did a few days ago. That's right here.

So if you have a few hours to kill...I mean burn...I mean...damn, all those words are exactly what the Joker likes to do...if you have time this weekend go check out this film. Now, there are plenty of other things from the world of geek gossiping to chat about so as the Joker said in The Dark Knight....

Strange Things Are Coming

If you were worried about how season three of Stranger Things ended...don't worry, season four is coming! When? Not sure...

Earlier this week Netflix released this cryptic teaser for the hit streaming series but we do know one thing...things are going beyond the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.

If you didn't watch the last season or know how it ends, there will be some spoilers so you have been warned!

At the end of the season three we were thrown into a Russian prison and one of the monsters from the Upside Down world came out. We were also told of "the American". Fan's have theorized they were referring to Hopper who "died" in an explosion in the last episode. I used quotations around the word died because we never saw a body and you know the rule in comics and science fiction...no body means they aren't dead!

This could refer to the fact we saw Will, Jonathan, their mother Joyce, and Eleven all pack up and leave Hawkins to start a new life. Will was a host for the Upside Down and Eleven is now powerless. Season four is needed to answer those questions.

There's not much to watch in the new teaser but hey, you get to hear the theme music. So watch away!

Harley and Friends

Who's ready for a girls night out? Harley and her new crew are. The very first Birds of Prey trailer dropped on October 1st and so far we know the following:

  1. Harley is back on the market because her and the Joker are "done"
  2. Unlike the comics it looks like we are seeing a mask-less Black Mask (played by Ewan McGregor)
  3. Harley's pet Hyenas have arrived! (probably illegally...)
  4. We get a good look at what Huntress will look like
  5. Black Canary works for (or at least did) for Black Mask as a singer.

Also in the mix is Cass Cain (who becomes Batgirl after Barbara in the comics) which is why this movie is happening. According to the plot online, she gets mixed up with Black Mask and the Birds of Prey form to protect her. Are they setting up a future for that story for her version of Batgirl to take place eventually? Time will tell.

Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be in theaters February 2020.

In The Sky! It's A Bird? A Plane? NO! It's A Lot Of Supermen!

Seeing double? Be prepared for a lot of that in December. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths we will be seeing a few capes and chest pieces with the letter "S" on them. Tyler Houchin, who plays Superman in Supergirl, and Brandon Routh , the Atom in Legends of Tomorrow, but also played the man of steel in Superman Returns, decided to give fans a little tease and proving that they will be on screen together in the crossover. I am really loving the Brandon Routh Superman suit. It's the Kingdom Come version and someday, maybe, that story line can be used for a future crossover or even movie in the DCEU.

Because this crossover is all about the multiple versions of our favorite characters, at one point Nicholas Cage was set to play Superman on the big screen. It never happened. Maybe we will see him in the crossover? I'm not joking around. Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim tweeted about that very idea saying that they reached out. I'm sure we are going to get a few big surprises in this, even cameos in the crossover so don't rule this one out. You can read that story here!

speaking of the upcoming crossover....

The Stage Is Setting Up!

It looks like, at least for Arrow and The Flash, the first part of their seasons will be setting up the events for Crisis on Infinite Earths.

In the new trailer for The Flash, which returns this Tuesday, October 8 at 8pm on the CW, Barry still doesn't get the fact that time traveling and seeing different versions of the future is a BAD THING! We see Jay Garrick telling him to stop (again) and Iris giving him advice about how they have changed the future before and the crisis can be avoided for him. Maybe Barry really is the reason this whole crisis in the multiverse will happen. Damn it, Barry!

Along with Team Flash returning, this Sunday is the series premier of Batwoman. That begins at 8pm followed by the season premier of Supergirl at 9pm on the CW.

Does Whatever A Spider Can

Looks like Spider-Man really did save the day! In this case Tom Holland is the reason the whole Disney/Sony deal came back to life. Disney CEO, Bob Iger, has a new book out about his 15 years running Disney. In the interview with Jimmy Kimmel the question was brought up on how Spider-Man was able to come back to Marvel....well, you can take a listen to that story. It starts around 7 minutes and 25 seconds.

Don't forget to check out the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast. Until next week fellow geeks, nerds, and dorks. I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
