It's always great when one of your favorite YouTube channels covers a topic you love and know a few things about.
Not sure if I have shared this before (at least on the air) I come from a farming family, and yes, we have bees and sell our own honey! It's a small family operation called Pleasant Valley Gardens in Methuen (click here for the website) and I help out in the mornings before I come here to give the traffic and nerd out from 7p-midnight.
When we started beekeeping, it was small and just to help our crops grow better. As our bee operation grew, we started bottling up that magic goodness and started selling it and it has been a hit at our farm stand and the local farmers markets we attend! I supply a lot of it here at the station, it's great for teas, cooking, and just eating out of the jar in general. Hey, if Winnie the Pooh could did it that must mean it's okay!
If I wasn't in radio I'd most likely be working at the family farm full time but my fascination with bee keeping would have led me into that area of the field (no pun intended)
If you can, always buy local honey over the stores (not saying they are bad, just if you have access to the local stuff, grab it and support local agriculture) and if you have the ability to have some bee's in your backyard it's good for the environment and you get your own honey!
