The Star Wars Titles Make Sense! Find Out In The Geek Freak of the Week!

Yes! The Force is strong here! The title of episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker is connected to the two previous trilogies. I FIGURED IT OUT! That's a little later but first give yourself a pat on the back! You made it to the weekend.

Did you happen to catch one of the greatest moments this past week? Before we jump in let's talk about a moment that fans have wanted on The Flash for a long time.

After 5 years of waiting it finally happened! Queen's theme song to Flash Gordon was used in the season six premier of The Flash this past Tuesday. We were given a scene where The Flash himself was saving the city (from a black hole) with the song pumping loud in the background. Getting the rights to this song I am sure were not easy so that's why it took this long. Well worth the wait? The scene matches up to the song perfectly. Take a look!

AMAZING! RIGHT?! Alright, enough fooling around. Here's the Geek Freak of the Week!

Two Who's Are Coming!

...In the Doctor Who comics that is. I know, I know. I got excited when I saw this headline when I first read it. We would all like to see the current Doctor and the tenth on-screen together. Never say never. Maybe someday. However until budgets are presented it looks like the comics will do. Expect this out on stands in 2020.

Wedge Returns

Well, this is a nice surprise. The Rise of Skywalker has added Denis Lawson aka Wedge Antilles to the cast for the final installment of the Skywalker Saga. Many have theorized that he is Poe's father or related to him in some way. We will find out when The Rise of Skywalker comes out this December. Add that to the long list of things this movie needs to explain

  1. Who Rey's parents are?
  2. Can Kylo Ren be redeemed?
  3. Why C-3PO has red eyes?
  4. and the big one: Why is it called rise of Skywalker?

Well...I realized not long ago that the third film of each movie in it's trilogy have something in common...look below.

  • Revenge of the Sith
  • Return of the Jedi
  • Rise of Skywalker.

Along with the letter "r" being used, I'm starting to think the third film has to do with redemption of some kind for either good or evil. More on this in a future Geek Freak of the Week Podcast.

Also, before I forget, rumor is there will be a new trailer for The Rise of Skywalker coming up on Monday, October 21st during the Patriots & Jets game. Sources also say that this will be the day tickets go on sale for the final installment. Stay tuned!

No Oscar Needed

There is always some kind of movement in the geek world. This time, it's to get RDJ an Academy Award for his performance as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame. Do you agree? Fans say yes, but RDJ says no. Disney is going forward and submitting a boat load of nominations for consideration for the block buster movie of the summer but none are for the acting categories. Like last years push for Black Panther, it's aimed towards technical awards and two big ones: Best Picture and Best Director (well, in this case, directors)

When RDJ was on Howard Stern's radio show the Academy Award topic was brought up and it was Iron Man himself that told Disney to omit his consideration. Maybe the fact the role of Iron Man and the entire MCU relaunched and saved his career is good enough?

Batman In Infinite Crisis?!

Sort of...along with the voice actor from Batman: The Animated Series Kevin Conroy, the epic crossover will make a reference to Michael Keaton's version of Batman, however, the actor, or anyone else from that universe, will be making an appearance this December. Sad? Yes. But happy that at least it exists out there!

You can hear me geek out with other people in the Geek Freak of the Week: Podcast! The Joker movie is out and I review it with my resident movie geek in the latest episode. Take a listen below or get it for free on the iHeart Radio app here!

Until next week...I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
