I loved dinosaurs when I was a kid. Hell, that's one of the many reasons why I watched Power Rangers (Triceratops was the best because they made it a freakin tank!)
Anyways...before we dive into those stories, there is a few other things to chat about. One in particular is DC Comics future...what?! Yeah, it's intense. Let's geek out!
Doomsday for DC?
So let's just get this out of the way. AT&T (owner of Warner Brothers and DC Comics) believes no one buys comic books anymore and that all superheros do better on the big screen. Yes, that's partially true. Ever since the first Superman film back in the 1970's the superhero movie has always been a go-to for studios and ever since the Dark Knight and the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it took the genre to new heights.
However, to say that no one buys comic books anymore? That's a bunch of crap. Print copies may be declining (they have been since the 90's) but fans buy digital copies. Why? For their convenience. The sales are still there, but with certain personnel changes going on at the comic book giant, co-publisher and editor Dan DiDio left the company on Friday February 21st, it seems everyone thinks DC is heading for the shredder.
Is this a trick though? Here's why I think it is. DC Comics is getting ready for it's new series events called "5G" or 5th Generation that will launch at the end of the year and into 2021. Yeah, I get the pun of the 5G and how AT&T is a wireless phone company. According to a few sources, AT&T has made it clear, if the sales don't do well, it's shutting the doors. Really? They would sell it before they close it down. (of course, the rumor is Marvel would get them. I believe they are doing this to drive people to buy the next series and increase sales. Classic marketing ploy. I'm not worried.
The All Knowing Spider-Man
Tom Holland knows what is to come in the next installment for the wall-crawler. In the past, he has had trouble keeping things to himself about movie plots, characters, and other important details about his roles in MCU movies. For the next Spider-Man Home series, he's keeping his mouth shut. This must be one of the conditions when he made Disney and Sony agree to talk again over the whole Spider-Man divorce last summer. Maybe he'll slip something soon now that Bob Iger is no longer CEO of Disney.
Spider-Man: Home-whatever-the-title will swing in theaters July of 2021.
Just Wait Until The End
Part two of the 27th season of Power Rangers: Beast Morphers is here. So, what's in store? This trailer explains the typical stuff you would see in a sneak peak. Upgrade of weapons, new zords, oh....and the epic return of the ORIGINAL Red Ranger, Jason! He's back for a team up episode that will be set later this season for a dino-ranger theme collaboration. Shockingly, there have been three seasons of rangers with that dinosaur theme so we'll see rangers from the original Mighty Morphin, Dino Charge, and Dino Thunder. It's going to be awesome!
Oh, and speaking of dinosaurs, this cross over is the perfect set up for the 28th season of Power Rangers. What am I talking about? That is announced at the end of the trailer!
let the name speculation begin! Hasbro likes the "morpher" name in the titles, so If they keep that theme going the next title could be Jurassic Morphers. Do I know that for sure? Nope. We'll learn all about the title and what actors have been cast to play the next rangers this September at Power Morphicon 2020 in Pasadena, California.
Time for more dinosaur talk!
Jurassic 3 Has A Name
Finally! The next chapter of the Jurassic World saga has a name. A simple one. Dominion. What does it mean? In the last movie, Fallen Kingdom we were told by Dr. Ian Malcolm (played by Jeff Goldblum) that we were living in the new "Jurassic World". Dominion means territory, so if I were to guess the film could be a battle between the humans and the dinosaurs for dominance of the planet. We have seen it before, but this time characters from all the past movies will be teaming up for this one. You could say this is the Avengers Endgame of the Jurassic Park/World series. Yeah, I know, lame joke.
Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled to arrive in theaters June 2021.
Rise of the High Republic
Now that the Skywalker Saga is in the books it's time for a new story from the galaxy far far away. This week we got our first look at Star Wars: The High Republic. No, that's not the name of the next movie or TV series, it's the over all story/saga that will be coming!
There's a lot to break down so it will be easier if you just watch the trailer.
