Working from home? So is the Geek Freak of the Week!

*this Geek Freak has been updated*

What a week. I happen to catch The Dark Knight Rises on TV the other day. When Gotham goes on lock-down and people can't leave, it all seemed to real. Crazy times we are in.

In my entire time writing the Geek Freak of the Week I have never been in a place where I am searching the entire internet looking for stuff to write and share with you for your weekly geek gossip and nerd news. Every week its been the same. News breaks via all the sources you see me post and then I compile what order it should be in, type up the basics and then share. Pretty simple. However, this week it's been tough due to what we all know about. The Coronavirus. Given the concerns out there, many, if not all forms of production for movies, comics, and TV shows are shut down until further notice. This may be the last geek freak for a while if news doesn't come out!

We're not there yet and I hope not to be. Instead, let's just share a few things that are happening out there.

Here Comes Ahsoka!

It seems you can't have a Star Wars series without Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice. Set to appear in season two of The Mandalorian Rosario Dawson has been cast to play the live-action version of Ahsoka.

Rosario has had great success in the superhero genre. Her resume includes portraying Claire Temple in Marvel's Netflix series Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. She is also the voice of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Movie Universe, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in the Lego Batman Movie and she appeared in both Sin City and Zombieland 2 Double Tap.

I think it is safe to say she is worthy to play Ahsoka.

Note: All Disney+ series are on hiatus due to concerns of the coronavirus. This impacts production of The Mandalorian so there is no word on when the second season will premier.

No More Arrows For the Arrowverse

What does Stephen Amell and Tom Brady have in common? They are moving on from their old roles. After his death in Crisis on Infinite Earths there was never any mention of Oliver Queen's return to the Arrowverse. However, in classic superhero and comic book fashion, no one ever stays dead for good. Olive Queen is changing that this time. However, what about Felicity? Maybe she will come back in a future crossover or episode of The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow. Both can travel in time...just saying.

You Shall Not Pass!

Every nerds safe haven is shutting its doors until April 5th. Don't worry, if you still need something random geeky thing, the online store is still open.

GameStop on the other hand will remain open. I have so many things I want to say about why this is poor management but I am sure I'll get in some trouble somehow. Okay, yes, the company is bankrupt and if they close that's a lot of revenue gone down the drain and that will just create more problems for them. But still, COME ON! I guess it's essential that we get our games.

(3/21/20 - 7:45pm) UPDATE: GameStop has changed its decision and announced it was closing its stores.

That news broke here

No Widow For A While

Disney and Marvel Studios have decided to delay Black Widow. You can now make plans on May 1st this year. This is in direct response to the announcement made by major movie theaters companies that they were going to be shut down to contain the spread of coronavirus. So, should the movie be released on-demand or placed as an add-on for Disney+ users?

Someone sent me this the other day...sums up everything with Marvel right now.

It's Marvel's New NEW Heroes

Marvel Comics has a new team of heroes coming to shelves in the New Warriors story line. The characters in this series are called Snowflake, Safespace, Screentime, B-Negative, and Trailblazer. Catchy, right? Out of the five, Safespace and Snowflake are getting the most attention for a few reasons. First, due to their names. Second, Snowflake is designated as non-binary.
