Happy Batman Day Weekend! Celebrate In The Geek Freak of the Week

Welcome one and all to another issue of the Geek Freak of the Week. Before we get into your latest Geek Gossip and Nerd News for the week, this weekend marks a special "holiday". This Saturday (September 19th) DC deemed it "Batman Day". Every year, DC picks a Saturday in September to honor the crime fighter and celebrate the 80 plus years of the Dark Knight saving Gotham and the world with nothing but his wit, body, and will. I wish that was my quote, it's not. Amanda Waller from Justice League Unlimited said those words because she refused to accept a world without him. Okay, let me explain.

Remember Terry McGuinnis from the Batman Beyond series? He is the son...well, clone of Bruce Wayne. Since the main series was canceled before they could ease us into this truth, the news was revealed in the episode "Epilogue" from Justice League Unlimited. Love or hate the idea, Bruce Timm (the Godfather of the DC Animated Universe TV series) said at 2019 Comic Con in an interview with IGN that the idea had been floating around for a while. In fact, you can click here to hear what he had to say about that topic in more depth.

The truth is, yes, the world NEEDS Batman and on Saturday I hope you raise a glass of whatever you are drinking to the Guardian of Gotham.

Alright, now...let's geek out!

To A Galaxy Far Far Away

Din Djarin and the Child are back running around the vast galaxy in the trailer for Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Watch it. It is the way.

PS...this is the most "Star Wars-ey" trailer we have seen since Rogue One.

The Bat Is Back

Robert Pattinson, or Robert Bat-inson, is back on the set of The Batman in the United Kingdom. The actor tested positive for COVID-19 and production was forced to shut down.

Can we all give Alfred some props here? We all know he took care of Bruce while he was sick and thoroughly deep cleaned the Bat-Cave.

As of now, there is no news of a rescheduled date.

The Cost To Play

The cost of PlayStation 5 has been revealed. $399.99 for the digital edition and $499.99 for standard edition. What's the difference? For the sum of $399.99 you can own a PS5 with no disc reader or spend the extra 100 bucks for the tower with a disc reader. When can you own it?

November 12th is the launch date...if you live in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, New Zealand, and Australia.

The rest of the world can get their hands on the new console a few days later on November 19th.

However, you better act now on the pre-orders. Hearing rumors that many places are selling out FAST.

Still undecided about the new PS5? Maybe this will help....

Orphan Black Is Going Green

Marvel has chosen its Jennifer Walters, or as some know her, the Savage She-Hulk. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) will trade in her black leather jacket for green skin for the Disney+ series She-Hulk. Debuting in Marvel Comics Savage She-Hulk #1 back in 1980, Jennifer Walters obtained her powers from her cousin, Bruce Banner. After an accident and no similar blood types available to his cousin, Bruce uses his own blood to save her life. You know what happened next? Yup. She received his powers as well.

Production has already begun in Atlanta, Georgia for the series. She-Hulk is scheduled to stream on Disney+ at some point in 2022.

Don't forget to check out the latest Geek Freak of the Week Podcast! An episode about flags (insert fun with flags music) comes out this week!

Until next week. I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
